James F. Harvey, III
, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, serving as a computer maintenance officer and systems analyst. The Air Force sent him back to Georgia Tech to earn a Master of Science degree in Information and Computer Science, followed by an assignment to the
Defense Communications Engineering Center in
Washington, D.C.
where he was responsible for a section of programmers involved in discrete event simulation models for communications networks and other communications-related activities. While in Washington, Mr. Harvey earned a second Masters Degree in Operations Research from
George Washington University
. He then served with the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) at Tinker AFB, where he maintained the communications software contained in the E-3 aircraft and was involved with interoperability with numerous other military systems.
After resigning from the Air Force in 1979 as a Captain, Mr. Harvey remained in the AF Reserves for the next 12 years, eventually retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Harvey has worked with software and hardware applications for Magnetic Peripherals, Inc.; TRW; and The Analytic Science Corporation (TASC). In 1993, he obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Oklahoma City University School of Law. He was admitted to practice before the Patent and Trademark Office on February 14, 1996.
Mr. Harvey is admitted to the Oklahoma Bar, the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His practice is concentrated on all aspects of
intellectual property
, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and licensing. He is a member of the Cleveland County Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Harvey is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Oklahoma Venture Forum, and the Oklahoma Alliance for Manufacturing Excellence.
