Michael C. Wofford graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1974 and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1977.
Mr. Wofford served on the staff of Governor David Boren as Associate General Counsel and served as the Governor's liaison to the state environmental agencies, including the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, State Department of Health, and Oklahoma Conservation Commission. While employed at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Environmental Services, he managed the enforcement of the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act and assisted with enforcement of Hazardous Waste Management statutes and other pollution control laws in Oklahoma. Mr. Wofford served as an administrative law judge on public health disputes and was a trial attorney for litigation defense for the State of Oklahoma in lawsuits related to these programs.
At Phillips Petroleum Company, he provided legal advice and litigation management of environmental issues and regulatory matters and managed the resolution of Superfund, Clean Water Act and other environmental disputes. He served on the Subcommittee for Environmental and Health Law of the American Petroleum Institute, and was the Chair of the Subcommittee on Environmental Law of the Texas Oil and Gas Association.
ConocoPhillips took him to Alaska where he served on the business development team for the proposed natural gas pipeline from Alaska's North Slope to the Lower 48 states. He managed environmental, regulatory, land, and Native and First Nation affairs for the Alaska Gas Pipeline Project in the U.S. and Canada. His duties included management of environmental, threatened and endangered species, archeological and air quality studies for the Alaska Pipeline Project as well as preparation of the draft application for a certificate of public convenience and necessity before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. He then moved back to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he led a health, safety and environmental audit team for ConocoPhillips' facilities worldwide.
Mr. Wofford serves on the legislative committees of both the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and the Environmental Federation of Oklahoma, a statewide industry group. His service on these committees provides the firm with timely information on legislative proposals that can affect our clients.

Mr. Wofford's lifelong interest in education has led him to serve as an adjunct professor of political science at Redlands Community College to be a guest lecturer in environmental classes at the University of Oklahoma and to provide ongoing assistance with the Mark Coleman Environmental Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma.
