We have found strength in our diversity. Our lawyers completed undergraduate work at more than 25 colleges and universities in 21 states and the District of Columbia, and graduated from 18 different law schools.
We recruit primarily 2L's. Our clerkships are typically for six weeks and we allow clerkships in either the first or second half of the summer.
We recognize that future lawyers have little experience in the varied areas of practice. Therefore, we do not assign summer associates to a particular Practice Group unless he or she has expressed a definitive interest. We believe this gives each person a well rounded exposure to the Firm and its many areas of practice.
Our summer clerkship program is a working clerkship. We strive to include summer associates in varied legal experiences, including drafting research memoranda, pleadings, attending depositions and court, drafting transaction documents, and attending closings. We believe that this process allows the associate to learn about the full range of the Firm's practice and allows the associate to demonstrate analytical and writing skills.
Each summer associate has two mentors. The primary mentor acts as a supervisor and functions as a gatekeeper to regulate workflow and assignments. This mentor is the primary source for professional activities at the Firm. The second mentor is an associate who acts as a "go to" person and sounding board for any issue the summer associate may have.
Even though the Firm considers the clerkship to be a working position, summer clerkships include fun and recreation. The Firm sponsors events such as dinners, softball games, attendance at sporting events, and other social outings Tulsa has to offer. These events are completely voluntary, but they do allow you to experience much of what Tulsa and the Firm have to offer.
