Tulsa Administrative Law Attorneys

The Firm's administrative law practice involves representation of clients before every level of government, from local city halls to federal agencies. Areas handled by our administrative law attorneys include licensing, government contracting, employment and human rights, environmental, state and federal occupational safety and health, taxation, securities, health care, trade regulation, transportation, insurance, oil and gas, utility, telecommunications, zoning and land use, and veterans' affairs matters.

Our administrative law attorneys combine a deep knowledge of the substantive area with significant litigation experience. The result is an ability to effectively work with and before administrative agencies while at the same time creating the necessary record to aggressively defend our client's rights before a reviewing court.

Administrative agencies are the starting points for many legal issues faced by our clients. Because of that, it is so important to have knowledgeable and experienced counsel deal with that agency.

One example of an area where our administrative law attorneys are often retained is to deal with administrative agencies charged with regulation of healthcare matters. This includes matters before the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, the Oklahoma Department of Health, the Department of Human Services, and various professional health care provider licensing boards. These matters range from licensing and certificates of convenience and need to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and eligibility issues.

Another area where our administrative law attorneys find frequent involvement with agencies is in the employment area. Employers find themselves defending against discrimination or retaliations claims pending before agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the Oklahoma Human Rights Commission or against wage claims pending before the Department of Labor or the Oklahoma Department of Labor. Our attorneys frequently assist employers in such administrative actions. The information and arguments you present to these agencies can often determine the likelihood of a resultant lawsuit but will, in all cases, be evidence a court or jury will assess.

Our environmental law attorneys also deal frequently with administrative agencies. Our clients routinely need construction and operation permits. We can assist with all phases of the permitting process, from the initial determination of what permits a new facility may need to negotiate permit conditions with state and federal agencies. We can also assist with on-going compliance, permit modifications, and permit renewals. Finally, we frequently represent clients in agency enforcement actions, such as compliance orders, and can continue that representation in court as necessary.

The Firm also has a long and active practice in representing public utilities and telecommunications companies and the oil and gas industry at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. In the public utility area, our experience includes representation of Public Service Company of Oklahoma, a major investor-owned electric company. In the telecommunications area, we represent several telecommunications companies, both wireline and wireless, in connection with state regulatory matters. We also have experience representing oil and gas production and exploration companies and pipelines in regulatory proceedings at the Corporation Commission.
