Kenneth T. Short

Kenneth T. Short represents local, regional, and national employers in various industries, including manufacturing, energy, retail, construction and transportation, in employment litigation and developing best practices to avoid employment litigation.

He has experience representing employers in all aspects of state and federal litigation, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge and retaliatory discharge lawsuits, wage and hour claims, and trade secret litigation. Kenneth represents employers in proceedings before state and federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). He also represents unionized employers in labor disputes and grievance arbitrations.

Kenneth regularly counsels employers on the development of practices to avoid litigation, such as the drafting and reviewing of employment policies, handbooks, and contracts. In addition, he trains HR professionals, management and front-line supervisors on handbook and policy implementation, employee counseling and discipline, interviewing, hiring and discharging decisions, employee leave and accommodation issues, and drug testing issues, among many others.

In addition to his representation of employers, Kenneth also has experience litigating a variety of civil actions in both state and federal trial and appellate courts.

Kenneth regularly devotes his time and expertise to a variety of professional and civic causes.  As a section leader for the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section, he plans, coordinates and conducts continuing legal education seminars for Oklahoma employment lawyers and is also active in the Tulsa County Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Division, coordinating and planning membership events and philanthropic activities.

  • Representation of international and national retailers in employment discrimination and wrongful termination litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
  • Representation of national manufacturer of industrial brake, clutch and transmission applications in Title VII employment discrimination lawsuit.
  • Representation of regional architectural firm in novel FLSA overtime and exemption lawsuit.
  • Representation of international manufacturer of heat transfer and recovery equipment in trade secret litigation against former employees.
  • Representation of regional electric utility provider in labor grievances and arbitrations.
  • Representation of one of the nation’s largest privately held companies in federal employee benefits litigation.
