Environmental: The 2010 Special Water Town Hall Report and Recommendations

On May 23-26, selected Water Town Hall discussants met in Norman, Oklahoma under the auspices of The Oklahoma Academy to discuss and recommend water resource management policies to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board for consideration and possible inclusion in the Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Plan. Prior to presentation to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, the Oklahoma Water Research Institute intends to hold thirteen additional regional public meetings to garner additional feedback on the 2010 Special Water Town Hall Report and Recommendations. These regional meetings will be held in the spring of 2011. Although it originally divided Oklahoma into only eleven regions for prior phases of the water planning process, the Oklahoma Water Research Institute has decided to divide the regions based on the thirteen watersheds for this final public comment period, due to the heavy emphasis on watershed based planning from the Town Hall discussants.
