The final rule on pay transparency from the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) went into effect on January 11, 2016. In short, federal contractors cannot discriminate against applicants or employees for asking about, discussing, or disclosing their own pay or, under certain circumstances, the pay of their co-workers.
Federal contractors are to post certain language about this rule as follows:
- Either electronically on an employer webpage for example or on the employer bulletin board and
- In any employee handbook
For links to the language the OFCCP would like to you, including a pre-printed poster, click here.
