Doerner is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of David McCullough, who was a beloved member of our attorney team. Nationally recognized for his legal expertise, David achieved being listed in Best Lawyers® for his practice in First Amendment Law, Gaming Law and Native American Law in Norman, Oklahoma for more than 10 consecutive years. He was also selected by Chambers and Partners USA as a leading lawyer for Native American Law since 2010.
“We’re at a loss for words,” said Tom Q. Ferguson, managing partner for Doerner. “David’s contribution to our Firm and work ethic will not be forgotten. We will miss him.”
In 1977, David attended the University of Oklahoma where he received an undergraduate degree in journalism and mass communication. For several years, he worked as a journalist for multiple publications. David eventually attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law and received his J.D. in 1984. Upon completion, David’s legal career began as he finessed his skills in Appellate Law, Litigation, Media Law and Native American Law. By 1992, David was also officially approved to practice law in the state of Texas. David later joined Doerner in the summer of 2005.
True to his legal interests, David was a founding member and a nominated advisory board member of the Freedom of Information (FOI) of Oklahoma, Inc. He was also an active member of the American Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association.
When not working, David was known for his sense of humor and had charisma in his ability to share good stories.
