The Employer’s Legal Resource: Potpourri of COVID-19 Updates From June 2020

There are so many changes each month. Here is a quick list in case you want to read more.

The flexibility in completing Form I-9s we addressed May 18 has been extended through July 19. To read more, click here.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration with the Department of Transportation (DOT) issued a three month waiver from certain pre-employment testing requirements. The waiver applies from June 5, 2020, through September 30, 2020. For more, click here.

The DOT has also extended guidance regarding Substance Abuse Professionals, Medical Review Officers, Screening Test Technicians, and Breath Alcohol Technicians as relates to COVID-19. To read more, click here.

In June, the CDC wrote or updated many pages dealing with specific employers or industries. Here is a list, in order of the update (from June 1 through June 28):

Nail Salons

Administrators in Parks and Recreational Facilities

Agriculture

Meat and Poultry Processing

Casinos

Manufacturing

Businesses and Workplaces

Veterinary Clinics Treating Companion Animals

Youth and Summer Camps

Nursing Homes

Restaurants and Bars

Pharmacies

Banks

Direct Service Providers for People with Disabilities

Of course, the CDC guidance is just that – guidance. If any governmental authority were to issue a law, regulation, or ordinance applicable to your business, that would govern.
